Cremation is a popular, and growing, alternative to traditional burial or entombment. For many people, cremation is not complete until your life has been memorialized with a bronze marker or name plate.

At Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake we offer a number of dignified cremation options, including:

1. Cremation Bench: These (also called a memory bench) are a unique way to memorialize a loved one and safely harbor their remains. Select engraving is included.
2. Columbariums: These are small free-standing buildings for the respectful storage and protection of urns. A bronze nameplate is included.
3. Niches: In select mausoleums these allow for the placement of most urns. A bronze nameplate is included.
4. Ground Burial: We have a cremation garden where you can bury ashes in a small grave site. A cremation vault is required. This method allows for a bronze marker of the customer’s choice to be purchased.

If only one member of a couple wishes to be cremated, a single grave or a single standard mausoleum crypt can be purchased along with a second burial right to allow both to be buried in the same place.

Greenlawn Memorial Gardens does not allow scattering of ashes over existing grave sites.
